Reverse washing, in German this means something like “washing backwards”. What does this trend actually mean and which hair types benefit from reverse washing?
First the shampoo, then conditioner or rinse. This is what a typical hair wash used to look like. But that’s all water under the bridge.

Now, washing your hair is done the other way round: you start by applying conditioner and finish with shampoo. This gives your hair new volume.
What hair texture do you have?
If your hair is healthy right down to the tips, you probably won’t notice much difference from the traditional hair washing method.Reverse washing is especially good for fine, dry, oily or curly hair.
Because especially for these hair types, the conditioner often causes flat, dull and hanging strands. If you change the order of shampoo and Conditioners you will bring more shine and volume to your hair.
However, dermatologists recommend avoiding this method if your scalp is very dry.
Reverse Washing: What it means
Washing your hair with shampoo not only rinses out grease and dandruff. It also opens up your hair structure and cuticle. This allows nourishing substances, such as those contained in conditioner or rinse, to penetrate the hair better. They then close the opened structures again and wrap around them like a balm.
This is not a problem for healthy, strong hair. It is different for fine hair. The care ingredients weigh down fine hair, and as a result it usually “sticks” flat to the head.

If you wash your hair the other way around, the care comes first. The substances coat the hair.
If you then use the shampoo, the excess rinse and conditioner will be rinsed out, but the hair will already have received a sufficient amount of moisture. The hair is cared for, but not weighed down.
Goodbye greasy hair
Basically, you can follow the new principle every time you want to wash your hair. You won’t go wrong with it. Wash your hair as often as you normally would and apply conditioner beforehand. This will keep your hair fresh, airy and full of bounce for much longer.
