But you probably wouldn’t have expected this one special ingredient: Instant coffee powder.

Even if it sounds very experimental at first, it’s worth a try. It’s important that you use instant coffee powder for your Bolognese and not freshly brewed coffee, otherwise you’ll taste the bitter substances.
There are different ways to add the powder. For example, you can pour it over the minced meat or the vegetarian or vegan alternative and fry it briefly.
Or you can add a teaspoon of instant coffee to some chicken, beef or vegetable stock to dissolve it. Then you can add the mixture to the sauce.
Don’t worry, your Bolognese won’t taste like an espresso afterwards. However, the coffee powder will intensify the flavors of the sauce.
