Some keep fit with regular jogging sessions, others swear by training in the gym with Dumbbells, Kettlebells and Co. But which form of fitness is more effective?
Max Weber, influencer and personal trainer from the USA, explains: No form of training is fundamentally better than the other.
Strength training or endurance? Which is best for you
Which one gets you in shape best depends on your personal training goals. Here you can read about the respective advantages of both forms of training.
Cardio workouts burn a lot of calories
“Cardio is fantastic for burning extra calories, making it easier to achieve a calorie deficit and lose fat. It’s also good for the cardiovascular system and helps with stress management,” Weber writes on Instagram.
In addition, endorphins, the hormones that make you feel good, are released during endurance training. You feel calmer and more satisfied with yourself. With regular cardio workouts, whether cycling, jogging or swimming, you can improve your sleep and even combat depression.
Strength training strengthens the body and defines muscles
But strength training also has its advantages. The expert says: “Strength training is great if you want a bigger butt or slimmer arms, bench presses, deadlifts, leg press – there are many options.”
If you dream of a six-pack, you should try strength training. Lifting weights helps build muscle – and muscles in turn increase your basal metabolic rate. This means you can eat more without immediately gaining weight. The workout also boosts your self-confidence, improves your posture and helps you deal with stress.
Cardio or strength training – everyone has to find out for themselves which form is best. Experts recommend a combination of both to stay fit and healthy.
