Less is more: If you do five things, your skin will look young for a long time

Less is more: If you do five things, your skin will look young for a long time

Eternal youth is like Santa Claus: At some point you realise that it doesn’t exist. But you still don’t want to give up your belief in it completely.

Maybe there’s a grain of truth in it after all? And so we continue to invest in plumping serums and rejuvenating masks. There’s nothing wrong with that – except for these five beauty mistakes that instantly wipe out any effect.

Be careful with your eyebrows

Less is more? There is definitely something to that, especially when it comes to make-up. But this rule cannot be generalized in the bathroom either, because you shouldn’t save too much time on your eyebrows.

Like hair, eyebrows thin out with age. Plucking thin eyebrows with tweezers at an early age is therefore not a good idea. If you are not naturally blessed with specimens like Cara Delevingne, you can help with the Eyebrow pencil and light, springy lines.

One layer less: leave out the primer

Another candidate for the “inappropriate way to save time” category: primer. If we leave it out, our make-up runs the risk of looking patchy and crumbly. Without primer, we often need so much concealer that our look looks anything but naturally beautiful.

A thin layer of the miracle product works like a soft focus for the face, erasing lines and ensuring that we need less of the rest of the make-up.

Take care of your hair

Shiny hair with lots of bounce signals health and fertility (no joke, a study shows a connection between hair quality and estimated age).

If you want to look young, you should take a lot of time for your hair. Treatments and conditioners that provide shine are recommended. One-dimensional hair color should also be avoided at all costs. Elaborate hairstyles are a no-go; the out-of-bed look is enough. Subtle highlights or a light balayage look instead of Botox? This deal is worth it.

Less is more

You shouldn’t be too generous with the powder puff. This doesn’t just apply to the setting version. If you use powder blush, highlighter and contouring powder, you’ll quickly end up with a mask-like finish with no glow at all.

On the other hand, we look younger with a touch of cream blush. A dab on the highest points of the cheeks, which is then blended outwards and upwards, immediately takes years off our age account.

Try cool colors

This is at least true for our hair color. Even though ashy tones are currently very trendy, they can bring out the gray, pale undertones in our complexion – and these can make us look a few years older.

If you want to do something for your youth instead, book a few warm highlights at your next hairdresser’s appointment or jump straight into the natural caramel trend. After all, changes also keep you young and fresh.
